Back-to-School Fair: “School Supplies are SPECIAL!”

BeBetterU Dream Ranch youth, children, volunteer staff and community volunteers united with the Junior League of Arlington, a non-profit educational and charitable organization of women that is committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers, in their “Back-to-School Fair” in order to reach out to the disadvantaged youth in their community and promote the importance of education.

On the day of the outreach, everyone gathered in a big room at the Junior League’s Center for Community Service. They began by breaking into teams to unpack supplies and organize a supply assembly line. All of the teams worked together to stuff 1,000 backpacks full of needed school supplies for the disadvantaged youth of the Arlington Independent School District. The Junior League of Arlington, together with community partners, local contributors and area volunteers also provided helpful information on health-related services such as dental, vision, nutrition, and after school mentoring and tutoring programs.

The outreach mission was a great success! It not only provided new backpacks filled with new school supplies for approximately 1,000 children, but it also blessed the lives of the volunteers who through this event were able to make a difference in their community as they too experienced the positive benefits of volunteerism. Everyone at the BBU Dream Ranch greatly enjoyed supporting the Junior League of Arlington with this important outreach mission. All of our BBU Dream Ranch adult and youth volunteers look forward to supporting next year’s “Back-to-School” outreach mission!
